10 years ago, 500 Black Walnut Trees per acre grossing 8,000 trees. Normal mortality rate estimates there are 300-350 trees per acre today, grossing approximately 5,000 trees growing yearly that need some pruning and possibly fertilization. These trees take time but not much money to farm but the return on investment could be incredible if managed correctly. There are markets for smaller 12″ diameter trees if time is not on your side. Black Walnut Trees are not only sought after for fine furniture but are in demand for fine spindles, gun stocks, etc. The key is to keep them straight, let them grow, prune branches and sell as the market demands.

The back 20-25 acres have really large diameter Ash that could be ready for harvest.
